چکیده
Oral pyogenic granuloma is a common benign (non-cancerous) growth of blood vessels on the oral tissue. It usually appears as a fast growing red nodule and commonly bleeds. They are neither infective, purulent nor granulomatous as the name might suggest, rather they are reactive enlargement that is an inflammatory response to local irritation such as calculus, fractured tooth, minor trauma, rough dental restorations and foreign materials. Histologically, the surface epithelium may be intact, or may show foci of ulcerations or even exhibiting hyperkeratosis. It overlies a mass of dense connective tissue composed of significant amounts of mature collagen. Gingiva is the most common site affected followed by buccal mucosa, tongue and lips. Surgery is the most common conventional modality of treatment of this lesion, but with advancing time cryosurgery has evolved as a newer treatment which involves the use of either liquid nitrogen spray or a cryoprobe.Nd: YAG, CO2 and flash lamp pulsed dye lasers have also been used for the treatment of oral pyogenic granuloma. This article presents a series of 3 case reports of pyogenic granuloma managed by excision of lesion. An Intraoral Epitheloid Hemangioendothelioma Masquerading Clinically as Pyogenic Granuloma
Epitheloid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is an uncommon angiocentric neoplasm of intermediate malignant potential. This tumor is frequently seen in the lungs and liver, but its presentation in the oral cavity is rare. In the oral cavity, gingival region is the common sites of occurrence. We report a rare case of epitheloid hemangioendothelioma in a 48-year-old male, presenting as a growth in the u...

Pyogenic granuloma is thought to represent an exuberant tissue reaction to local irritation. It occurs in second decade of life in young females. Clinically, oral pyogenic granuloma is a smooth or lobulated exophytic growth, pedunculated or sessile, which usually bleeds on provocation. Oral pyogenic granuloma preferentially affects the gingiva. On rare occasion, it can be found extragingivally ...

متن کاملThe Histopathological Spectrum of Pyogenic Granuloma: A Case Series
Background. Pyogenic granuloma is a reactive tumor-like lesion commonly affecting the oral cavity. These lesions usually appear as localized solitary nodule with a sessile or pedunculated base and colour varying from red, purplish, or pink, depending on the vascularity of the lesion. Pyogenic granuloma shows predilection for gingiva and is usually slow growing, but at times it shows rapid growt...
